Program Description
School Introduction
The American Language Center is part of UCLA Extension. It is located in one of the safest areas of Los Angeles, just three blocks from the UCLA campus, about 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and close to other famous attractions such as Disneyland, Universal Studios.
ESL Program Introduction
Full-time, intensive courses for all audiences, ages 18 or older: academic, conversational, professional. 10 and 4 week courses in fall, winter and spring. 3-, 4-, 6- or 12-week programs during summer. Also offering morning part-time courses for tourists and professionals.Curriculum Highlights:
Besides 20-23 hours of classroom instruction a week, students have free daily access to additional hours of language practice and instruction in the American Language Center's state-of-the-art language/computer labs, which they may also use for personal e-mail or web surfing.Elective classes include: iBT TOEFL Prep, Business English, and Slang, America through Television and Movies, Pronunciation Improvement, and many more.
All courses taught by highly trained and experienced instructors.

The ACC is a part-time course for individuals whose primary purpose in coming to the United States is to visit family and friends, pursue business projects, and/or travel in the U.S. and Southern California. The ACC allows participants to improve their English and learn more about American culture and life in Southern California. Participants take English classes four days a week in the mornings only, Monday-Thursday for three or four weeks. Each morning is composed of three 50-minute sessions. A nonrefundable $150 application fee is required; this fee is valid for 1 year. The Student Services Fee is required for all students and all programs. Note: This course is for people whose intent in coming to the United States is not to study, but rather to be a short term tourist or business person. The program does not constitute a full-course of study and does not qualify for an F-1 student visa.
