Overview
Nestled on the picturesque golden plains of southeastern Colorado, Lamar Community College offers exceptional educational opportunities that help students develop maximum potential, achieve a global perspective, and prepare to succeed in our ever-changing world. As a comprehensive community college, LCC's enriching academic environment equips students for admission to four-year colleges and universities, achieves technical and vocational learning goals, and provides opportunities for developmental and lifelong instruction. Housing
The five floor Todd-Burch residence hall is home to nearly 200 students. Services provided include free local phone service with voicemail and cable television hook-up in every room, free use computer lab with internet, free use of recreational equipment including the pool table (billiards), table tennis, large screen television in lobby and easy access to parking all within walking distance from all the classrooms. The Residence Hall host regular events like bowling or movie nights and dances. All single freshmen under the age of 21, not living with parents or relatives while attending Lamar Community College, are required to live in the college residence hall.The Cafeteria is located on site and serves three meals a day during the week and two on weekends.
Academic Programs
Academic Transfer Degrees. The Associate of Arts (AA) and the Associate of Science (AS) degrees are designed primarily for those students intending to continue studying at a four-year college or university. They will transfer in their entirety to most Colorado four-year colleges and universities. AA degrees provide a foundation in communications, social and behavioral sciences and the arts and humanities, while AS degrees focus on physical and life sciences and mathematics.Associate of General Studies Degrees. The Associate of General Studies (AGS) degree are designed primarily for students who wish to pursue a broad program of career and transfer coursework without the constraints of subject specialization. While the AGS degree is not designed for transfer to a four-year institution, LCC offers articulated emphases in Agriculture and Criminal Justice for transfer to specific universities.
Associate of Applied Science Degrees. The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree is designed primarily for those students intending to seek employment opportunities upon completion.
Certificate Programs. Certificate programs are designed to students who wish to gain knowledge and/or seek employment in specific occupational areas.
International Student Support Services
The International Programs Office offers a full range of services to support our international student population including a full orientation program, immigration assistance, academic counseling and a variety of programs including:- International Outreach Program: The International Programs Office arranges for LCC international student to speak with Lamar community schools, organizations, businesses who want to host an international guest to speak to their group.
- Friendly Family Program: Matches LCC international students with a local family to share special activities and events. Students gain a better understanding of American family life, while families gain an understanding of the people and culture their student comes from. This is not a live-in host family program.
- Multicultural Club: Provides a chance for American and International students to come together and support one another while providing opportunities for the larger LCC campus to learn more about the people, cultures and issues of the world.
- Explore Colorado Excursions: Throughout the semester the International Programs Office offers opportunities to visit the sites of Colorado at little or no cost. Visited sites have included Cave of the Winds and Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, theatre and pro-basketball games in Denver as well as more regional locations like Bent's Fort and Camp Amache.
International Admissions
- Application. You can apply online by creating an account at our My Community web site or you can use the printable version.
- Transcripts. A copy of your high school transcripts, translated into English with the date of graduation indicated.
- Statement of Financial Support & Supplemental Documentation. This is to prove that you have the funds necessary to attend school at LCC for at least one year.
- Proof of English Language Ability. The preferred mode is a TOEFL score of 450 Paper Based Test, 133 Computer Based Test, 46 Internet Based Test. However, we will accept alternative offers of proof such as the IELTS or EIKEN test scores.
