Welcome to North Dakota State University!

The University: Established in 1890, North Dakota State University (NDSU) is located in Fargo, North Dakota. An accredited university, NDSU is one of two research institutions in the state and is a leader in the agricultural, scientific, technical, and technological areas.

Intensive English Language Program: Study English for five weeks in the summer or for sixteen weeks in the Fall and Spring. The program is designed to develop skills needed for academic study and general use of the language in the United States. Students live on campus in residence halls. Advanced students may take one or two regular classes.

Admission: Prospective students should have strong academic credentials, required TOEFL score of 525 (paper), 193 (computer), 70 (internet) or an IELTS exam score of 5.5 or higher, and adequate financial resources. Conditional admission is given to students whose TOEFL or IELTS scores are below the required score.

Campus: More than 13, 200 students attend NDSU, 963 of those are international students from 80 different countries. The main campus covers about 30 square blocks and includes more than 90 major buildings. It is constantly expanding to offer a quality learning and research environment.

Housing and Food: Students can choose from a variety of housing options from residence halls to apartment-style living to married student housing. Basic services in residence halls include high-speed computer data jacks, basic cable television, coinless laundry, study lounges, computer clusters and local telephone service. All residence halls have some cooking facilities available. The campus has three dining centers which offer a variety of meal plans.

Recreation: Campus facilities include a state-of-the-art Wellness Center featuring cardiovascular and strength equipment, an indoor three-lane, 12 lap-per-mile running/walking track, and group exercise studio. The Memorial Union has a an amphitheater, art gallery, video games, bowling alley, billiards, and relaxing and eating areas. Students can attend athletic competitions such as football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and wrestling on campus.

Computer facilities: Computer clusters for student use are located across campus and the university's wireless network is rapidly expanding. Advanced computing systems are available for students in technical majors like computer science and engineering.

Activities: Students can get involved in any of the 200 varied organizations on campus, such as the Badminton Club, Engineering Society, or Concert Band. The International Student Association and many country associations also provide activities for students.

City: The Fargo metropolitan area has a population of 175,000 in a relatively safe, secure, and clean environment. Fargo has a high quality education system, complete medical system, strong business environment, entertainment and cultural activities, and excellent parks, golf courses, and other public facilities. The nearest large cities, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Winnipeg, Canada, are only a four-hour drive away.
