Texas A&M International University
Laredo's Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is a Member of The Texas A&M University System, and a primarily Hispanic-serving, state-assisted institution offering 78 undergraduate, graduate or doctoral programs in the liberal arts and sciences, education and business, with a special focus on developing an international academic agenda for the State of Texas. Its accredited programs have earned state, national and international recognition.The University was founded in 1970 as Texas A&I University at Laredo, becoming Laredo State University in 1977 and Texas A&M International University in 1993.
THE INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE INSTITUTE:
The University's International Language Institute (ILI) offers a high quality English as a Second Language program emphasizing dynamic, interactive teaching in small classes. The learner-centered environment promotes rapid language acquisition and includes intensive study, high-tech computer/language lab, experienced and caring instructors and fun extracurricular activities. Those finishing the last level of ESL with a "B" or better are TOEFL-exempt when applying to TAMIU. A TOEFL score of 550/213 is necessary for undergraduate/graduate admission.The ILI also offers English Conversation, TOEFL Preparation, Chinese Mandarin, Japanese, French and Italian courses

It strives to provide outstanding service in recruitment, advisement, testing, and registration of ILI students.ABOUT OUR CAMPUS:
The 300-acre campus is the newest University constructed in Texas in over 25 years. It has completed its $53.5 million construction on Phase III, with campus facilities growing over 60%. Phase IV, projected to cost $22.6 million, includes a new Science Center complete with planetarium, which opened in April of 2005. Phase V expands infrastructure and athletics facilities. Located at a crossroads of culture and commerce on the U.S.-Mexico border, TAMIU is the newest university campus constructed in Texas. Its 300-acre campus serves as a beacon for higher education for South Texas and northern Mexico. Over 4,400 students attend the University, coming from around the world and just around the corner.
