About the College
Los Medanos College is a diverse, full-service community college, serving approximately 9,000 students each semester. We offer a comprehensive, fast-track transfer program for students who wish to pursue baccalaureate degrees, Associate degrees and Certificates of Achievement in technical education programs for job skills training, and courses for continuing professional education.Located in a pleasant suburban community about 50 minutes east of San Francisco, Los Medanos is situated in one of the fastest growing and dynamic places in the San Francisco Bay Area in the eastern part of Contra Costa County. It is convenient by public transportation to Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco and is the gateway to unlimited recreational opportunities including Sacramento (California state capitol), the Sacramento River Delta, the Gold Country Foothills and Lake Tahoe.
Transferring to a 4-Year University
Los Medanos College currently awards Associate of Arts Degrees (A.A.) and Certificates of Achievement. Upon completion of at least 60 semester units at LMC, students may be eligible to receive an A.A. degree and/or transfer to a four-year college or university as a Junior. LMC has Transfer Admission Agreements (TAA) which may guarantee your admission to California State University, Sacramento; California State University, Fresno; San Francisco State University; University of California, Davis; and University of the Pacific.The Honors Program is the first of its kind at any community college in Contra Costa County. At LMC, highly motivated students with a GPA of 3.25 or higher are prepared for transfer to selective universities and given the opportunity to obtain their A.A. degree with an enhanced academic experience. To streamline the transfer process, the Honors Program is committed to negotiating priority or guaranteed admission and scholarship offerings for its graduates at such competitive and private universities as University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California State University, Hayward (CSUH), University of California at Irvine (UCI), St. Mary's College, San Francisco State University, etc.

Los Medanos College Recording Arts Program
The Recording Arts Program offers a four-semester sequence leading to an A.A. degree or certificate of completion. It is geared for both the student seeking to enter music technology or related industry fields, as well as the professional wishing to upgrade skills by training with state-of -the-art equipment in a professional environment. All of the instructors are currently working in the Audio Field and have received numerous professional honors, including over 30 Grammy Nominations, with five Grammy awards received to date.Los Medanos College offers the finest Recording Arts equipment, including two fully equipped 24 track recording studios featuring a fully automated Otari series 54 console and Digital Multi-Track MIDI and 24 Track Analog capability.
Travel Marketing
The Center for Travel Marketing (CENTRAM) at Los Medanos College is dedicated to being a center of excellence in education and training for the travel industry. CENTRAM is the first exclusive community college travel program in California accredited by the Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA). Our Travel Marketing Program provides you the opportunity to learn more about the travel and tourism industry whether you are considering a career in the industry, advancing your career, or if you just love to travel. We offer you several certificate options to choose from as well as an Associate of Science Degree in Travel Marketing. CENTRAM has been very successful in helping advanced students obtain internships, where they receive on-the-job training as well as job placement.
